I flubbed up a little this week. I didn't make it to the gym nearly as many times as I had planned on going, didn't drink my water, and didn't really care about my veggie intake. I indulged myself in soda and chocolate and lots of salty popcorn. My pants were... tight. But, my exercise pants nearly fell off during Saturday's zumba class. I think I've popped the elastic.
As a result, I lost no weight. At least, I don't think I did. I stepped on the scale this morning and I weighed 202. I KNEW that wasn't right. No amount of wishful thinking in the world could take 28 pounds off in a week. I don't think they even do that on the Biggest Loser. At least, not the women. Do they?
At any rate, I got off, re-zeroed the scale, and stepped back on. 236. WTH? I was standing in exactly the same place, hadn't move the scale, and had made sure to zero it. Off again. Leave to take Alex to school (after getting dressed, of course.) Return, strip, back on the scale. 231. Okay, getting closer. So, which was it? 202? 236? 231? One more time. Re-zero, back on. 238.5. Okay, this is getting ridiculous.
Jogging down the hall to the kitchen, I grabbed my new, unopened 10 lb bag of King Arthur's Flour. Back to the bathroom. Re-zero, plop flour down. 12 pounds. Uh-uh. Off, re-zero, 10.5 pounds. Surely I didn't lose a pound and a half of flour by moving it off and back onto the scale. Back down the hall to get the 2 lb bag of popcorn kernels. To the scale. This time, they didn't even register. Maybe they were too light. Add the flour. 10.5 pounds. Remove, re-zero. 12.5 pounds.
I think it's time for a new scale. According to the manufacturer's website, this particular scale should only differ by +/- 1 pound at each subsequent reading. My dear, I think I've broken the scale.

** After writing this post, I went potty and tried again. 228.5. If I could forget the newly determined inaccuracy, I would say that I've lost 1.5 pounds this week. Sounds good to me! I'll remeasure after purchasing a new scale so I know for sure, though. I'm thinking one of those that measures to the nearest .2 pounds would be best for my neurotic tendencies.
LOL that happens to me sometimes! Let us know when you get a new scale.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pain! I just bought this one from amazon and it is the same every time I neurotically weigh myself... even 10 times in 5 minutes ;)

Thanks. I'll check it out. I normally only weigh 5 times in 5 minutes. Ten times was exceptional, lol.
