how to be on time

If you enjoy what you find here, be sure to subscribe or become a follower, so you can keep up with all my bloggy goodness.

Recently I've been reading a lot of blogs about home organization, kid control, and how to be on time. Isn't that the way things seem to go every year? January rolls around and everyone is talking about dieting and weight loss, how to live a better life, and how to take control of the life you have.

I think lots of mommies have issues with herding the kids out the door so they can get where they need to be, when they need to be there.  At least, that's what I tell myself-- that it's not just me, that I'm not the only louse who can't seem to make it anywhere on time, let alone early.

Bloggers toss around ideas like laying out clothes, shoes, books, wallet, keys, lunches, etc, etc, etc the night before.  They say to set your alarm early, or let your clock run fast (mine does, it doesn't help).  Even more tout the virtues of five, three, and one minute warnings, potty breaks ten minutes before you have to load up the car, shoe baskets, entryway organizers, timers, and the works.  But, does all of that ever really make your mornings (or afternoons, or evenings) go any more smoothly?  Does it really help you get where you're going on time, without having your hair stand on end from the stress of it all?  Not for me, though I admittedly haven't ever followed one procedure long enough to notice a difference.  I'm just not a time-management type of girl.

The one thing that I have found that works without fail is this:

To arrive on time, go without the kids.

  1. Excellent advice! I had a boss who said that being late was the ultimate in arrogance. I just chalked it up to the fact that she had no children.

  2. Hahaha!!! We used to have our clocks set fast but i'd just mentally calculate the real time and still ended up leaving too late :)
